We are very excited to announce the start of the Music Breaks Borders project!

On 24, 25 and 26 April, the Italian conductor and clarinettist Sara Maganzini will visit us for various educational and fun activities that will allow us to improve aspects such as sonority, interpretation, technique and intonation. We will also take this opportunity to prepare the Italian repertoire for mobility in Sicily and explore new musical perspectives and approaches.

We talk about our guest expert. Sara Maganzini trained at the ISEB (Istituto Superiore Europeo Bandistico) and at the Maastricht Conservatory, where she obtained the ‘Bachelor in HaFaBra Conducting’, completed her composition studies at the Bonporti Conservatory and the master’s degree in conducting at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in Den Haag. In addition to her educational career, she has conducted numerous bands and has won several awards in international competitions. She has also been invited to conduct abroad and is an active member of several professional associations such as the ANDB (Asociación de Directores de Banda Española) and the European Association of Woman Band Conductors. In addition to her work as a conductor, she has been a teacher since 2010 and currently holds the position of vice-president of the ISEB.

The stage will start on Thursday 25th, with two days of training. In these sessions we will work on technical and performance aspects based on a variety of musical pieces. Each piece will allow us to study different topics in depth, both technical and in terms of tuning and interpretation. Sara will offer us new perspectives on pieces we have already worked on and also on those we are beginning to prepare.

After the rehearsal on Friday, we will participate in a dinner to continue the stage in a more relaxed way. We will be able to talk with Sara and Ripoll, and we will also have the presence of Coleto and J. R. Pascual Vilaplana. It will be a perfect moment in which we will be able to enjoy a moment of encounter between the musicians and the 4 conductors, where we will exchange, for sure, many experiences and learnings.

On Saturday, Sara will give us a talk in which she will share with us her pedagogical, educational and conducting experience. It will be a unique opportunity to resolve doubts, share concerns and delve into topics of interest, which will help us to improve as a band.

We are looking forward to having Sara join us in this conference, which will undoubtedly be very enriching for all of us!
